My trip to Spain & Paris

Early February, I was ask to speak and teach at the Bodaf Europe 2014 Photography Conference in Madrid, Spain.  I had never been to Spain before and I was so excited to get to speak at such a wonderful conference.  Although, I was very excited to travel to Spain and meet new friends, I was nervous that I would not have something of value to teach and speak about at Bodaf.  I kept trying to sit down and write out what I wanted to present, but every time I did, my brain would shut down and I would draw a blank.  I was so thankful when I found out that one of my best friends, Ryan Muirhead had also been asked to speak at the conference.  I knew that I would feel much more comfortable and at ease with one of my best friends there by my side.   Even though the morning of the presentation, my nerves were driving me crazy, by the time I got up to speak, everything just flowed out and came together.  I was so proud and honored to get to present to such a warm, welcoming, fun crowd of photographers.  After 9 days in Spain, we ventured up to Paris and met up with some of our FILM SHOW family Jan Scholtz and his beautiful girlfriend, Stephanie. We got to tour the beautiful city with the amazing, Audrey Neracoulis, who was a wonderful tour guide.  I really wanted to keep things simple on this trip, therefore, I only brought two cameras with me (both 35mm).  I really wanted to spend some time falling in love with my Leica M6.  All of the following photos were taken on my Leica M6 with Kodak films.  I was pretty much just guessing my exposures because my Leica's battery had run out... Lol... pretty  much, here is me being a tourist :))

For My Family

As a working photographer, I often get so busy photographing my clients and their special moments that I often do not leave time or energy to spend photographing my own special people and my own special moments.  A fellow photographer friend of mine, Ryan Muirhead has reminded me to take photos that matter to me of people that matter to me.  This past year I have been clearing space and time to make sure I not only photograph for my clients, but that I carve out some time to photograph people in my world.  When 10 years pass and I am going through a decade of photos, the ones I will cherish will be very different from those I love today.  These are the photos I will cherish  in the future.  This is my great neice.  Her name is Jayden Olivia and she is a special little bundle of happiness.  Her mother is very dear to my heart. Her mother is my neice, Nichole and I have always felt like I was a second mother to her.  She was the funniest little girl and I have laughed a million times at and with her.  I took these photographs of Jayden and her daddy, Clease while I was visiting my family in Oregon in January.  Editing them today reminds me, it's time to take more of the sweethearts in my own life.
